Overview
KOPEL is an award-winning, community-based ecotourism cooperative, recognized by UN Tourism as one of the Best Tourism Villages in the world. It was founded through grassroots dedication and a shared vision — to protect the forest and preserve the cultural heritage of this community.
KOPEL’s dream came to life with the creation of the Tungog Lake Eco Camp, built by local hands within the Pin Supu Forest Reserve. This reserve has recently received a prestigious international award for being added to the IUCN Green List, recognizing its outstanding conservation efforts.
Today, KOPEL’s second generation carries this legacy forward, welcoming travelers from around the world to experience a place where every visit helps protect the forest and shape a sustainable future. As one village elder once said, “We built this not just for visitors, but so our children will always know the forest is alive.”
